“What excites me about Sponsorling is that it’s model presents a win-win scenario for content creators and content consumers/supporters so we can both get what we need and want out of the content being created. See, while Twitch and YouTube are wonderful platforms that make it easier to reach people with my content and help audiences find the content they’re interested in, those companies are never going to pay me for what the content is worth to its consumers or even for what it takes to create it, only what the content/creator is worth to the platform in the form of popularity that generates income (viewership, ad revenue, subscriptions, etc.).

From the initial idea of Sponsorling I was excited. It was very clear from the beginning that Connor’s idea had great potential with full focus on its creators and their audience, and I was lucky to be part of the process.
Twitch offers many great things and I am grateful for the community and opportunities I have been given on twitch. However, the hard work that creators put into their content is not always fully rewarded monetarily. Twitch takes a 50% cut of sub revenue that can only be negotiated when you’ve surpassed a certain threshold of earnings (typically in favour of bigger content creators) and when you choose to give bits, it gives the full amount to the creator but creates an added expense for the viewer. With sponsorling I can further my content creation journey and opportunities by receiving direct funding that actively contributes to improving my set-up, or funding projects in ways that engage both the creator and the audience with full knowledge that a big cut is not being taken away from your contributions.
